Thunder UP!

What’s the best thing to happen Oklahoma since I moved away (6 years ago)? Answer: OKC THUNDER
And the playoffs have just began, so THUNDER UP!

I also have a special place in my heart for Kevin Durant, because I used to watch him play for Texas while I was at OSU (Go Cowboys!).

April 19th

Nineteen years ago I was in sixth grade and living in Oklahoma, attending an elementary school East of Oklahoma City. The date April 19th will always have to me, like all Oklahomans, a special significance that will travel with me throughout my life. We will never forget.

How Many Have you Read?

The Greatest Books of All Time, As Voted by 125 Famous Authors

Top Ten Lists of Books

To get you started, here’s “The Top Top Ten”:

1. Anna Karenina, by Leo Tolstoy
2. Madame Bovary, by Gustave Flaubert
3. War and Peace, by Leo Tolstoy
4. Lolita, by Vladimir Nabokov
5. The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn, by Mark Twain
6. Hamlet, by William Shakespeare
7. The Great Gatsby, by F. Scott Fitzgerald
8. In Search of Lost Time, by Marcel Proust
9. The stories of Anton Chekhov
10. Middlemarch, by George Eliot

Feel snubbed that one of you favorites wasn’t listed?

Personally, I’m surprised that Dickens didn’t make this ‘top top’ list, but then again, I’ve only read half of these, better get going. I’m NOT surprised by Tolstoy’s place at the top, if you haven’t read Anna Karenina, go forth and make yourself better off than you were before…

Feels like the First Weekend of Spring

So to celebrate the first weekend with forecasted temperatures over 75 degrees, we went out to Folly Beach to stay with our friends Ben and Tress. Hollis of course was in tow. However, I forgot my computer so I have a couple of ‘make up’ posts to do.

Anyway, here’s some pictures of a typical Folly weekend…

Nike+ Running App Is My New Best Friend

Gone are the days when running intervals consisted of me using the timer on my iPhone, having to start and stop the thing every minute, grasping frantically at my arm band, so not watching the road and almost running into people/trees/etc. Not. Pretty.

Bring on the days of the Nike+ Running App

A voice over set to your needs tells you the time ran, distance, and average pace in a very soothing voice. It also will play over either Pandora or Spotify (an absolute must for me) and will track your route via GPS.

I hadn’t had so much fun on a run in a long time, trying to best my ‘average pace’ and not having to fool around with shutting off and on my timer – instead I could just sit back (well, run), relax, and let the app guide my way. Aaaaaaah, technology.

Best news of 2014?

CONOR OBERST (lead singer/songwriter of my favorite band of all time BRIGHT EYES) has a new album coming out! Link below to him performing a single from his new record.

I’d like to also take this post as an opportunity to announce that he’s coming to Charleston on May 11th and Matt and I have front row tickets! Life. Is. Good. Maybe we’ll get to hang out with him like we did almost 6 years ago!
